Sophie Is Getting Started on Potty Training
Check out this blog from The Potty Project.
Meet Sophie and Her Mom
Sophie's almost too interested in the toilet. We had to install a lock on the bathroom door, so Sophie couldn't flush our jewelry away. Since both me, and my husband work, Ava (Sophie's grandmother) supervises potty training. The family speaks Russian, Spanish and English, and we suspect, some of the lessons of potty training are getting lost in translation.
Getting Started
First few days Sophie peed in her pull up most of the times; she asked to go potty once a day only; we feel she has started to show some interest in peeing in the toilet.
****
Surprisingly, she went from peeing once a day in the toilet to four times; yay, we are all excited she is making great progress in just a few days.
****
Sophie stayed dry during the daytime with grandma; in the evening she didn’t do so well; mommy wonders if she might doing something different from grandma. Overall a good day, though it seems she did better in the daytime. Mommy and daddy are hopeful that it will get better in the evenings.
****
Sophie continued with the same pattern –going to the potty about 3 to 4 times a day; mommy is anxious to see her increasing her number of trips to the potty.
****
Sophie is still making about 4 trips to the toilet per day. No changes yet; mommy is getting a bit impatient.
Sophie Day/Night
Sophie made about 6 trips to the toilet today; yay; we are all happy she is showing progress.
****
Great toilet day =) Sophie kept herself dry all day; Mommy, grandma and daddy are thrilled and feeling very proud. It’s her very first day staying dry all day (except for nap and night times).
****
Another great day; Sophie had no accidents today and wore panties most of the day. We are feeling very happy and proud.
****
Today Sophie took a small step back; she had a couple of accidents; mommy and grandma feeling a bit of frustration and questioning why she went back to having accidents.
****
Sophie has regressed; we went from peeing most of the day in the toilet to having lots of accidents; today she only went potty twice; we are very disappointed and can’t explain why the change.
****
Today Sophie had a much better day compared to the last couple of days. Sophie had only a couple of accidents and we are feeling optimistic she will go back to days without accidents.

Keeping It Up with Potty Training
Again it seems she is regressing; today half a day she peed in the toilet and the other half in her Pull-Ups training pant; we feel very confused and once again disappointed.
****
During these days Sophie peed mostly in her Pull-Ups pant; she's made only a couple of trips to the toilet per day. We are convinced she has regressed, and it's very frustrating because we keep doing everything we were since the beginning of the potty training process.
****
Again not a good day; Sophie only peed in the toilet twice; mommy feels she is running out of patience.
****
We were out most of the day and of course she peed in her Pull-Ups pant through the whole day. She only went to the potty once, right before bedtime.
****
Today Sophie did better than the last few days; she peed in the toilet half the time and the other half in her Pull-Ups training pant/panties. We have decided to try something different as of tomorrow -we will not physically take her to the bathroom anymore; we will let her go on her own.
****
An OK day, though Grandma didn't do that well sticking to the plan; grandma took Sophie to the bathroom a few times; overall, she had a better day compared to last few days as she only had 3 accidents through the whole day.
Phase 3
Sophie Is Close to The Big Finish

Almost Finished with Potty Training
Today it was a potty day; for some reason she preferred the potty over the toilet; we are very excited that today she only had one accident, and the best part is that she is going potty all by herself -no need to physically take her anymore, yay!
****
Sophie keeps doing good; today again she only had one accident; it happened while we were out in a restaurant.
****
Today Sophie had two accidents only; we feel that the change of technique is working out, and it feels much better for us that every time she goes to the toilet she does it on her own, as opposed to us physically taking her.
****
We noticed she is not peeing as often as the past days; it seems as if she were gaining more control of her bladder. She only had a couple of accidents, and for the first time she woke up in the morning with a dry Pull-Ups training pant, which might be a signal that she is getting closer to keeping herself dry during the night. We are very excited.
****
Same pattern as the last couple of days; Sophie kept herself dry most of the day and had only two accidents. Once again, she woke up with a dry Pull-Ups training pant in the morning. We have accepted the fact that she will probably continue to have one or two accidents in the upcoming days; however, we feel very close to the finish line as she is showing she is in control of her body for the most part.
